To Bind a Pecan Tree

steel, rope, stone, pecan tree

Ball dia. 18 inches; height of branch supporting the rope: approx. 19 feet

The rope suspended the stone ball from the tree, which moved continuously in the breeze. Consequently, the ball almost never stopped swinging. Occasionally, due to high winds or humidity's effects on the length of the rope, the ball would rise up or drop down closer to the ground, producing a disarming "creak!"
