A Maritime Marionette,
a Mariner, and an Albatross
wood, steel parts, rope, pulleys
100 x 80 x 10 inches
The early source for the metaphors in this work was Samuel
T. Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner. It also talks hopefully
about aspiration, but it is aware that neither the art nor the artist is
entirely in control. You can pull the ropes and make the sculpture fly
or dance. |
